Specializing in Couples Mediation, Uncontested Divorce Mediation and Seperation Agreements

Meet Eric Hodgson – Your Partner in Resolution

Eric Hodgson, founder of Hodgson Mediation, is a couples and divorce mediator based in Queens, NY. Before entering private mediation, Eric spent more than 25 years advocating between a major airline and its union, working at the intersection of high-stakes conflict, emotion, and negotiation. He now brings that experience into the mediation room, helping couples navigate separation, divorce, and relationship challenges with clarity, calm, and compassion.

Eric’s training is both extensive and grounded in real-world conflict work. He has trained with respected ADR expert Sylvia Skratek, Ph.D., and completed foundational and advanced mediation training with Sequoia Stalder, Esq., through Cornell University’s School of Industrial and Labor Relations and the New York Center for Interpersonal Development (NYCID). He expanded his practice by adding dedicated couples mediation training at the Center for Mediation and Training in Manhattan, NY, with renowned couples and family mediator and therapist Dr. Ken Neumann.

Eric’s hands-on mediation experience includes helping partners who want to stay together strengthen their communication, rebuild trust, and make clear agreements, as well as guiding divorcing couples toward workable, respectful resolutions. His focus is on “talking it out” in a structured, supportive way—without turning mediation into therapy or legal representation.

Eric is skilled at creating a calm, respectful space where clients can address deeply personal topics—such as communication breakdowns, financial concerns, intimacy issues, and the impact of past experiences and trauma. His approach is thoughtful, adaptable, and always client-centered and forward-focused.

Whether you're facing difficult decisions or simply want to improve the way you communicate, Eric is here to help you move forward with more understanding, better conversations, and clear next steps.

The Mediation Experience

Not Sure If Mediation Is Right for You? That’s Okay.

It’s completely normal to feel unsure about sitting down together and talking things through—especially when things are tense or painful. Mediation isn’t about forcing agreement or pretending problems don’t exist. It’s about having a calm, neutral space where both of you can be heard, where emotions and practical concerns are taken seriously, and where you can make clearer decisions about what comes next.

Eric’s approach is calm, structured, and entirely voluntary. Whether you’re trying to avoid a drawn-out legal battle or simply need support navigating hard conversations, he’s there as a neutral guide. From couples who want to repair and reconnect, to partners working through separation or uncontested divorce, Eric focuses on practical, workable solutions that fit your specific situation.

If you’re unsure, that’s completely okay. Even a single session can help you get a feel for the process—no pressure, just a chance to explore a different way forward.
